Something new! Last month I was fascinated by a post from Eliane of Creativity and Inspirations from Ireland called ’12 of 12′. Twelve photos taken throughout the day on the 12th of each month – the brainchild of Chad Darnell. So today I joined in and here is my first 12 of 12.

9.38am…boys at nursery…workstation set up. MacBook, cup of tea, camerabag, iphone, pen, diary, two moleskin notebooks and postcards to the ready. Check out WeeBirdy …I completely adore her blog.

9.54am…Parker in his box ready to go to the vet for jabs. Alas I don’t have a photo of the moment, five minutes later, when he escaped from the box and hoofed it around the car as I backed out of the drive. Parker 1 Spud 0. We will try again tomorrow with a sturdier box.

10.54am To town for various errands and shopping. Time to break out my trusty iphone camera. Here’s a by stealth from the hip shot in our local kitchenware shop. No cookie cutters were bought in the production of this photo.

11.19am Brilliant, brilliant, BRILLIANT banjo player, huddled in the doorway of a closed down shop trying to dodge the rain.  I think this is one of my best ever favourite photos, and taken with a phone camera. Time to flog to the Nikon? Nooooooo, just my little joke.

12.13pm Home. Here’s the first of our sunflowers looking quite cheery, but that’s the processing. It was actually chucking it down and it was looking quite sorry for itself.

1.38pm After a boring hour of printing out Bertie’s birthday party invitations, getting it all wrong and meanwhile chattering with The Fragrant Muse, I sat down to cut them out. Easier said than done. I couldn’t get the new scalpel to work (hence tool box out) and my old one is blunt. I ended up using my mother’s old dress making scissors which my Dad ruined by using them to cut wallpaper with. You can imagine how professional the end result was…

2.26pm Phew, finally done. It was a mind-numbingly dull task, alleviated by chattering to Julochka at the same time about Blog Camp…

3.01pm Afternoon tea and vast sticky bun. Ssshh, it’s a secret…not even MrSpud knows this…I treat myself to a Belgian bun from our amazing local bakery when the children aren’t around. It’s my dirty little secret…secret 31 in the 30 Secrets in 30 Days project.

3.57pm Time for a spot of ironing, oh joy.  If only we were naturists, think of the hours I’d save and be able to put to good use like working with the poor and Twittering more. I must spend bazillion hours a week sorting laundry, putting the washing machine on, pegging it out, trecking out to the tumble drier, ironing it, putting it away, sorting out outgrown clothes, putting away out of season clothes, buying new ones, sorting stuff for the charity shop etc etc etc. And then it starts all over, they get dirty, they need ironing, they outgrow them, they need new ones.  Things have improved since I banned MrSpud from wearing shirts in favour of T Shirts (easier and quicker to iron). He’s only allowed to wear a shirt for Very Important Client Meetings and is given the third degree from me before I’ll give him a Shirt Pass….

5.01pm Hello…what do we have here? GIRL shoes in my car? That can’t be right, I have boy children…ah I remember. Our neighbours’ little girls now go to nursery with the Megaboys, much to everyone’s great delight. Nursery days now start with a lot of shrieking from the four of them and group hugs outside the door to nursery, it’s very sweet.

In an attempt to avoid yesterday’s group meltdowns on the way home from nursery, everyone swapped cars today. They were all was much jollier as a result, not least the parents.  I ended up with just one child in my car, little Miss C (2 and a little bit) who was a delight all the way home. I was so enamored I forgot to take the handbrake off and couldn’t work out what the high pitched squeaking noise was until we got home…ooops.

5.29pm Diggy clearly had an excellent day at nursery. He created an array of dreadlocks with green Playdoh. Great. I washed it but I don’t think much of it came out. Move over Medusa…

7.25pm Boys in bed, hoorah. I walked down the fields enjoying the sunshine and terrifying about 100 rabbits. The pigs were in bed, they are so human like that…they have their dinner and then they go to bed for the night, cuddling up in the arc. Here’s Reece, looking splendid in the evening sun, about to be attacked by two lively labrador puppies. I tried getting a shot of them but they were too fast and bitey…

That’s all folks…that’s my 12 of 12…more next month.

  1. Sounds like a blissful day. Well, apart from the ironing.

  2. What a brilliant idea! Sounds like a really lovely day all in all. x

  3. A sticky bun sounds like just the thing to go with my coffee right now.

Bummer about the playdoh. We recently had to cut out gum. :(

  4. thanks for a glimpse of your day, great pix

  5. Love the 12 pics on the 12th!

Seriously though…you iron all those clothes???! There’s no way…I iron at most, once a year.

  6. Very nice. Welcome to the 12 of 12. I’m sorry to say that your favorite picture showed up “Currently Unavailable” on the site when I was looking.

  7. did you 300 the banjo guy? ;-)

12 of 12 sounds like fun, but the last thing i need is another project. i can’t be certain i’ll feel like taking pictures of my life on the 12th of every month…

but it was really fun seeing yours.

    xox,
    /j

p.s. you really shouldn’t iron t-shirts. if you stop ironing your t-shirts, i’ll stop ironing my tea towels…

  8. I wanted to comment last night as both of us apparently were online at the same time (I signed in at Chad’s just a few minutes after you) but due to my sloooooooow line I couldn’t enter this field (how handicapped can one feel nowadays when just the internet doesn’t work properly). I was also impressed by your regular ironing project, wow! and by the ferocious attitude of Parker. The green dreadlocks reminded me of our eldest who at the of 4 or 5 tried to use the red wax from Babybel Cheese to shape his hair, what a mess!

  9. Oh my gawd, that’s one busy, but mightily beautiful day. Where one earth do you live? It’s heavenly. Look at those sunflowers – and the horse at sunset. That cream bun looks really good too.

(Although I can’t see some of the pics – they’ve come up blank – just thought you might wanna know!)

  10. Oh! All the photos are back now, and I can see me! Wheee! Thank you.xx

  11. Welcome to 12 of 12! Hope you enjoyed it and do it again, you got somee really lovely photos! I love the horse and the banjo one (I didn’t realise that was a camera phone photo to start with!) and the cat in a box one too. What an expression.

You cracked me up with banning Mr. Spud from wearing shirts. I might suggest this to my friend, who has two small boys, and a shirt-wearing husband ;-) I have enough ironing to do with long-sleeved tshirts and trousers for myself!

  12. Look at me….comment # 12!!!! hahahahahaaa.

you lead such an adorable life, anyone who has a horse is adorable in my book!

I don’t iron anymore… I wish I did but I can’t handle it. There’s just too many things to do. I hang up wrinkled stuff, then iron it as we need it… it’s all to aggrivating, I need a housekeeper!!!!!

  13. Thanks everyone…flickr has been playing up hence now you see it now you don’t photos. I think it’s fixed now?

Sara, GUM? Oh no. I had to cut Diggy’s hair recently, it was full of matted dreadlocks from..what? Goo, snot and toddler muck. Blearghh!

Eliane…I think we must club together and install superfast broadband in Ireland! Babybel? That’s a shocker, Diggy likes to smear it all over the table and that’s bad enough. But hair? Yikes!

Re the ironing: I don’t iron tea towels, PJs or duvet covers (apart from the boys’…they are an OK size). Or gym kit. But often I wonder why I iron the boys clothes. Often I shove unironed stuff on them if I’m short of clothes for them, and they look fine!

Julockha…ha, you got me re the 300. But then perfect for that shot, don’t you think? 12 of 12, well I guess you don’t ‘have’ to do it every month? Next month it’s Bertie’s birthday party on the 12th, hmmm can’t see me having much time to ponce around taking photos all day. We’ll see.

Wee Birdy…I live in Suffolk, recently escaped from Hackney. Suffolk wins, hands down. Although Hackney much handier for all those cool shops you keep tempting me with!

Ali…that’s not our horse! We don’t have a horse, but people keep their horses on the farm that we live on (which isn’t ours either!).

  14. [...] on, be a sport. Look at the comments on my 12 of 12 post from yesterday. A list of ‘numbers’ commenting, with occasional bright spots of gravatars…yay [...]

  15. Thanks for sharing with us!!! Enjoyed seeing your day :-)

  16. Fun post, fun idea..might have to jump on this bandwagon too! Will I remember on the 12th? That’s the question…Loved seeing pics of your day…how fun and colorful….must be a way to get round all of that ironing…hmmm? Well, visit me and enter my secrets quiz…maybe the prize will be a year’s maid service all ironing included!

  17. I love those photos! And, yes, I think you’re OK for not having taken photos of the upset kitty running around the car…

  18. Oh that Sunflower shot is amazing!! Gorgeous!!!

  19. Oh, Bertie’s invitations are wonderful. Really great. Of course they are.
