July – a month in pictures

Life is definitely speeding up…ergo…I am definitely getting old. I hate that. Although now I’m all stocked up with No 7 Perfect & Protect Intense Serum I’m all set to be looking like a teenager again in a couple of weeks. But without the spots, attitude and poor judgement, I hope.

In this Brave New World of being old I am amazed at how much I can pack in to a month, and how fast it zips by. Looking at my Photo A Day project for July on Flickr I can’t believe I was still finishing off my 30 secrets project during the first week of the month. That feels like an eternity ago. I love putting together these monthly mosaics, gradually building up a visual diary of my whole year.

A quick scoot through the images above tell me the following about July:

  • I finally finished up those exhausting secrets
  • I went to London twice, once for business once for pleasure
  • I took too many photos of flowers and plants
  • I went to two regattas despite my wobbly sea legs
  • I went to Paris
  • I continued my obsession with photographing footwear (query foot fetishist?)
  • I went to a castle
  • I limited myself to 3 photos of the boys
  • I spent the day with ‘the wife’ who acted like an utter loon and needs committing
  • I started a project I probably don’t really have time for
  • I went to a horse show

That’s quite an agenda given that I also worked, cared for the boys, kept the house and chucked a bone in to MrSpud’s cage everyone once in a while. No wonder I’m feeling a bit weary…but once I’m a teenager again I’m sure to have more energy.

I have a slight love/hate relationship with my 365 project….I love taking photos every day, I love having a record of the year…but I’m finding it harder to keep on top of the 365 now that I blog as well. I’d assumed the two would be happy bedfellows, one feeding the other but I’m surprised how infrequently my photo for the day leads directly to a blog post. Often it triggers a kernel of an idea for a blog post, but it then spins off in to something else.

But, I’ve started so l’ll finish, I will push on with the 365 and am planning a Bob Book of my completed project – a complete  record of 2009 . Mind you, I don’t hold out much hope…I am yet to do a photo book of Diggy’s first year, as I did for Bertie. Worse, I’ve not yet sorted out our wedding photos … we’ll have been married for 5 years in November. Can’t rush these things…

  1. Well, you had a much more interesting month than me :)What’s the project you don’t have time for? Have you started something crafty?? Do tell.

  2. I absolutely adore that picture of the owl. I am a bit owl obsessed and that is an absolutely beautiful picture of the owl. She (I am assuming here) looks like she is being all coy and flirting with me.

  3. I love the photo of you hunched over your keyboard (as well as all the rest)! And now I’m off to buy this Number 7 Serum stuff. I need serious help and it looks like you’ve found it, what with that dewey complexion in your pics.

    You take beautiful pictures.

  4. Lovely photographs J. keep up the good work, I love looking at them ROFL
Hmmm number 7 serum?? I’ll be 44 in a weeks time, definately need some of that stuf hahaha

    Have a great sunday!!

  5. Brigitta…I’m 38, but after only 2 days on the serum I look 25….;-)

VEG…that owl is v cool! Picture is here http://bit.ly/fVxFa

Kim…photoshop and ‘reduce clarity’ is my friend ;-) and, now, No7 serum. Info here, if it’s on the BBC it must be true, righ? http://bit.ly/o3gLb

Redhead…the new project is postcrossing. it’s actually not too time consuming, but it all adds up! http://bit.ly/4c9Yq3

  6. Your photos are fabulous, so lovely as well for you to have a record of your year. I did a photobook for J’s first year and am determined to do one for C too.I need to get started! One of my friends is a second child herself and she was urging me not to forget to do a book for C. I got the impression she had been forgotten a few times in the past!

  7. And just how did you get more than 24 hours in the day? Or are you extremely ADD? running on Speed? what’s your secret…the real one, not all the 30 fakies. OK now I know.. you’re sending me the serum so I can be 30 before Christmas. yay. don’t bother cos if you check out little pink clock I wouldn’t use it anyway. heeee heeee heeeee…. toodles!

  8. [...] I wittered about in yesterday’s post, time is speeding up for me and no amount of turning back the years with my No 7 Protect & [...]

  9. Hey! Word of warning, time is going to go faster and fasterandfaster…….I understand why people don’t bother to take down Christmas lights. You blink and it’s that time of year again! I’ve started shopping already.

You’ve had a fantastic month..must be one high energy woman. Loved the line about throwing Mr.Spud a bone. It is difficult to juggle it all sometimes isn’t it. I too love the idea of capturing time in pictures, the visual diary idea. Just in case my mind really goes, I might have a clue!

I’m working on a secret about my memory…think this will have to be added!

  10. Ok, Wonderwoman. You can slow down any minute now. The rest of us (me at least) are suffering by comparison. I’ve been thinking about what McGillicutty said. So? Which is it? Speed or ADD?

  11. it’s wonderful, the record of the month. i take pix pretty much every day, but don’t put them all on flickr. you make me want to make a mosaic, tho’. and i do use iPhoto to help me remember what i did during that month. i think it’s amazing what digital photography has given us…mostly an outlet for the madness, eh?
