Feline woes

I am really going off Parker. I’ve moaned before about his killing tendencies but he’s really stepped up his campaign of terror in recent days. We found a trail of bird feathers and poo (nice) around the house when we got back from our Christmas trip a few days ago. No amount of hunting revealed a carcass anywhere so, with little conviction if truth be told, we assumed Parker had kindly slung his prey outside again once he was done with it. Oh…how…wrong…

This morning I put my foot in to my wellington boot and was very puzzled by the obstacle at the bottom…kind of round and soft and OH MY GOD FEATHERY.  MrSpud was immediately summoned as he is In Charge of horrible things. Alas he confirmed the worst. There was a dead bird in my boot, and a mountain of the poor creature’s poo too.

It’s hard to know what to be more upset about. Dead creatures in my boots, the foot to dead creature contact or the folly that led me to believe buying expensive leather lined (and thus really hard to clean) wellies was a good idea.

I’m sure I heard that damn cat laughing at me, Mutley style as I attempted not to simultaneously scream and vomit. I’m considering getting a dog out of spite. That’ll learn him.

  1. Oh, that was not too bad! Just a dead bird! LOL!

    Happy New Year!

  2. Yuk! I reckon you shoud get that dog :-)

  3. ewww would be an understatement! I agree with ms buckle tho, a dog would be good for you. plus the mega boys would love it I think.

I need a picture of your wellies tho, it took me forever to find my little rain booties (which I still love) but I’d like to see yours too. You can leave out the bird carcass and mountain of poo.

  4. Awwww. Poor bird. *giggle*

  5. That cat does look rather self satisfied, doesn’t he?

  6. Just as I thought… cats are evil! That’s why I don’t actually have any! I highly recommend the dog, though.

  7. eew indeed. Does your cat have a bell? Mine used to be a major serial killer, but now the birds hear her a mile off. she doesn’t realize this, so she still tries to stalk them but they’ve got her figured out. She still catches geckos, though.

Happy New Year to you and your adorable family x

  8. Oh man, that is disgusting, but funny too. hehehe…poor birdie

  9. OMG! I would not be a happy camper. My cat has only left one “present” for me, a hummingbird, but I think she found it dead in the backyard.

  10. Gah, that’s horrendous. Poor little birdy – and poor you! xx

  11. that foot-to-bird contact sounds awful, i think i would have screamed my lungs out. you have to admit it’s an ingenious idea on behalf of your cat to hide a dead bird in a boot. you have a smart feline specimen there, if a little bloodthirsty :)))
