Let it snow let it snow let it snooooooooooow

MrSpud is forcing me to listen to FOLK MUSIC as I write this. Wince. It’s right up there with him forcing me to listen to BOB DYLAN while in early labour. A kind of cruel and unusual punishment which must be against some kind of international law or other? A million years ago I knew someone who told me they couldn’t bear to listen to Brahms because it made her bottom itch. Well, yes, quite…

So it’s snowing round these parts. Rare enough in the UK anyway, but probably the last for a good while as we go in to a ‘warming phase’ of global warming. But snow is so thrilling and such fun. I remember, as a child, the excitement of listening to local radio waiting/hoping to hear my school’s name listed as a school closed due to the snow. I can’t see the same being true for the Megaboys.

Less good, we are a nation entirely unable to cope with even an inch of snow. The trains gave up tonight, so the Megaboys and I traipsed out to some remote station to collect MrSpud. A two hour round trip for what should have been, perhaps, 50 minutes. No grit on the roads, dreadful driving, blah blah. Boys don’t care, they can’t wait to get out there and play in it!

I am all ready for Christmas and it feels good. Shopping done, house decorated (some things still to make with the boys tomorrow), everything wrapped, tree up, cards sent, house smells of Christmas from the scented candles. Bring on the Baby Jesus and we’re all done.

I quite like this FOLK MUSIC. I must be ill.

The new look Chez Spud is all finished in terms of design and being coded right now. Hopefully to be revealed at the weekend. I might add some FOLK MUSIC or BOB DYLAN to it, for your listening pleasure. Queue wild laughter…

The photo has little to do with this rambling post. I took it in London yesterday while it was snowing, but not settling. But it made the Front Page of Explore on Flickr and that makes me glad [tidings of great joy].

No Bob Dylan music for me, please-- unless someone other than BD is singing it, because BD can't sing, right? You would be amazed at the people who think he CAN sing (my dh among them) and think that this is actually a topic for discussion... Anyway, I LOVE your new look! Very classy and fun.
  • Love the new look! And congrats on your photo on Flickr!
  • oh, this reminds me of a night - no, not in the museum - in stanstead airport. all, really all flights from 5 pm on cancelled due to 1 oder 2 mm (not meters, just millimeters) of snow at the 28th of january three years ago. thousands of persons stranded and NO one cared. it was a giant sleep over and trampel over children, oldies, suitcases, clothes... a real nightmare. no chance of sleeping lying on my coat as every 10 minutes came: don't leave your luggage unattended... grrrrr. i hate snow. it's going to be super-cold tonight and i don't know whether our 5 budgies will survive in our glasshouse.... i hate winter!
  • congrats on the flickr mention.

i wish it snowed here too!
  • we could use some blasted snow! geez I live up here for a reason - give me my snow!@!!!!!!

I was just getting used to the butterflies
  • Laughing at this. I spoke earlier with a dear friend who lives in Wales and who was lamenting the snow. He often complains about rain...so I said at least the snow is a change from rain. I won't mention to you, as I did to him, that it was almost 70 here today, and nothing but sun....oops, I mentioned it. Don't hate me.

You don't mention the NAME of the folk singer. I have a soft spot for some folk music; but then I also like Bob Dylan. Perhaps I shouldn't mention any of this as I would like to keep your good opinion.

MY husband is in London tonight and has been calling me every hour since 7 pm to tell me which trains he has missed. He also mentioned, rather drunkenly, that it was snowing. (We've got nothing here.) I assume that he will get home at some point. Last I heard they were going out for pizza. It is the post-Xmas party, post-pub-after-party option.

SNOW is lovely if you don't have to go anywhere or do anything. It still makes my children (11 and 15) wild with joy.

Congrats on your flickr mention and getting all the Xmas prep done. xx
  • no snow yet for us. I'm hoping there will be some in Reno since that's where I'll be for Christmas.
    Beautiful picture! Kudos on explore!
  • you can have some of our snow...blech, I really don't like the white stuff at all.....

we had 16 inches in one evening and it's now down to about, ohhhh, 12 inches, so I have plenty to share with you....

the rain.....the rain is GOOD !
