London-3

‘Iconic London’….that’s what I’ve called that shot above. For what could be more iconic that the McDonald’s Men in their kit…mmmm, I’m lovin’ in. Ha.

Today I went to London Town to visit the Queen. Well, actually to spend a day with lovely Bee but she’s very regal so it was almost like seeing the Queen.  We didn’t do alot really. We ate cake and talked smut (much to the delight/horror of our tablemates I’m sure) in the cafe at the London Review Bookshop (now my best new favourite shop in the world), we bought books, we nipped next door to Blades Rubberstamps and I marveled at how your first and second favourite shops in the world are right next to each other. Such planning on the part of some clever soul!

Then we shambled to Trafalgar Square and ate lunch at the National Dining Rooms. It was a long, long lunch. We were still there at 4pm, so no time to look at anything in the National Gallery. Oooops. So we basically ate all day although, mostly, we talked. We talked and we talked until there were no words left in the world.  So anxious was Bee to get going with the talking that she rang me, as I was walking to meet her, to say she was setting off my direction so we didn’t waste valuable chatting time. That added a whole FIVE extra minutes of chatting I’d just like to point out.  FIVE MINUTES. But it was so worth it.

I manged to snap a few pictures and Bee surprised me by unearthing her D90 from the bottom of her shopping bag and even taking some photos ;-)  I decided to stick with the Lensbaby all day and had a bit of fun with the superwide angled lens attachment.

So, here’s London, Lensbaby style…a bendy bus at Trafalgar Square, outside St Martin-in-the-Fields

  1. Awww I miss it. don’t get the mcdonalds men?? they look like they are trash pick up guys… why do they have M in the back??? does Micky D’s sponsor the trash men these days??? or do they work for McD’s.??? confused.
and Barclays Bikes??? are these couriers or something??? London is soooo forward thinking… I’m stuck in hicksville and feeling very out of the loop!!!!

  2. p.s. forgot to mention you’re really rockin’ the lensbaby!! well done!!!

  3. I am going to sound really thick now, but hey ho, nothing new there. What is a lensbaby?

  4. That sounds like Bee to have 5 whole minutes extra to talk. Glad you had so much fun together with talking, eating, talking, bookshops, talking, eating and a bit more talking. What more can a girl want!!!!!

  5. Did you lift the funk?! Hope so x

  6. Oooo gorgeous pics!

  7. I wonder what Lensbaby could have done to the trad roast lamb dinner? As always, I greatly admire your eye . . .

It’s just as well that you had a few minutes ALONE to take these pictures!

  8. I read this yesterday on my lunch break, but ran out of time to comment. How lucky you and Bee are to be so close to each other. I grin just thinking of all the fun you both had. I must admit, I am a bit jealous that you two can go to Persephone books together. Here I am, still dreaming…

  9. sounds like a fine day indeed! love the dreaminess of photos.

and i’m glad to see that london has been so inspired by stockholm:) – yes, the barclay bikes that is. we’ve had them for many years (same blue-.white logo too, but a painkiller pill logo on it). it’s a great way to see the city for tourists and residents alike!

  10. I love love love London. We actually got to sing with PINK in Trafalgar square last year what a rush. I hardly knew who she was before that. We ate at the Opera Room hotel or something like that anyway, just around the corner, beautiful. Covent Gardens another favourite. Anyway sorry reminiscing too much!!!!! Love a Lensbaby I really would.

  11. I have figured out the cheap way to do this – detach the lens and tilt it a smidgen and Bob’s your Mum’s bro – apparently it’s the way to fake tilt shift but there’s all sorts of weird and wonderful results – I am still practicing – too early to share :)
