Mummy

Presenting…me. As drawn by my children, having been tagged by MuddynoSugar from How I Like My Coffee. Her children did very expressive/funny pictures. Mine went for the ‘tell it how it is approach’. I think this is the first time I’ve ever asked my children to draw me, quite an interesting experience.

Bertie’s (5) attempt is on the left, Diggy’s (4) on the right.  Diggy has made me look like a skeleton head. That brown ring around my mouth is ‘a scarf’. Do you like my huge forearms? Bertie has done a reasonable job of depicting today’s outfit, which involves a lot of stripes. And he added my engagement ring as an afterthought. Looks like the Rock of Gibraltar.

I asked them what I was doing in their pictures. Diggy said I was giving him a cuddle (clearly the invisible Diggy). Bertie snapped back at me, “You’re not doing ANYTHING. You’re just THERE!”.  OK…

So I tag anyone who fancies playing along but in particular (assuming their children will play ball):

Inner Rambling of a Mid Life Mama

Lyanne Wylde

Shopkeeperswife

  1. i especially like your hair in diggy’s version. :-) i’ll have to trick sabin into doing me. if that doesn’t work, i’ll have to share husband’s of his father from when he was 9. it’s good stuff.

  2. You have some very funky clothes there my friend.
However, can’t accept your tag; for this reason:

    (Make sure you add yours!)

  3. I used to like you. In fact, I not-so-secretly loved you. Even more, when I saw the awesome artwork from your little people.

And then I saw the tag. The one which Ms T Cain has ALREADY tagged me for.

    *TSK* Just saying.

PS I still love you, k? Don’t tell anyone. xx

  4. I’m in! In fact Grace did a very cute pic of me and the shopkeeper on Friday so I just need to get round to scanning it!

  5. my girls are too old now i’d hate to see what my 21 yr old twins would draw always out for comedy those two and my 26 yr old too serious I think i’d ned therapy after that one. she drew her dad when in kindy drinking a stubby of beer too close to the truth. ha ha love your portraits though

  6. Your in the picture Spud! LOL…treasures!

  7. It’s a brilliant idea! I have to check if B&A are willing to play along…should be fun :)

  8. sweet! keep those and compare each year how “you” develop in your boy’s eyes…. I guess next year you won’t look like a skeleton anymore.

  9. Oh, those are pretty…..um, descriptive :)

But really, it must have been interesting to see what your children could conjure and what details they felt important to include. I would get my cat to do one of me, but I fear the only thing that would appear on the paper would be a rendering of a can opener.
