A Visit from the Fairy Hobmother
Posted under Books I love
Oh, the Fairy Hobmother paid me a visit…immediately winning points for a comedy name…for ‘she’ is actually a ‘he’…and he’s not very fairylike since he works for Appliances Online. Perhaps the appliances are powered by actual fairies? Anyway, when Fairy Ian isn’t busy selling washing machines he wafts around the internodes looking for places to sparkle his fairy dust and, erm, free stuff.
I commented on a post at Imperfect Pages and the Fairy Hobmother was watching. Fast forward to today and a little pile of Amazon vouchers dropped in to my inbox [claps hands]. Not sure what to blow them on yet, I have quite a mix on my wish list including the gloomily named (though much bigged up by a friend of mine) Shattered: Modern Motherhood and the Illusion of Equality, I am the messenger (although that’s a risky choice, based on my love of the same author’s The Book Thief)…and the curiously named and much recommended The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Or all three perhaps?
If you’d like a visit from the Fairy Hobmother and **important** you live in the UK…please leave a comment because perhaps Fairy Ian is watching…peeping from behind his stack of white goods…ready to wave his wand.

Can the fairy hobmother send me a real fairy that empties the dishwasher, tidies up the living room and gets the washing in…?
I do believe in fairies, I do, I do. I do believe in fairies, I do, I do.

He’s really doing a great job I think – he’s already visited me and it was such a treat. Isn’t it nice to spread a little happiness about?! Have fun blowing your vouchers.
Lucky you! and lovely picture as always – though reminds me that I haven’t blogged about what I’ve been reading since September… whoops. Watch this space for pictures of piles of books from me!
How fabulous. Both the freeness but especially the Fairy called Ian in an appliance shop. I have a copy of Guernsey Lit & Pie if you want me to post it on?
Wow, if the fairy hobmother (hobfather?) is out there, I’m saving up for a laptop, I need something light weight so that I can still work from other places than my desk. I work for a charity based in Shoreditch and we have no windows in our basement office. So I’m saving so I can work remotely from time to time, to get that little boost to by work that sunlight so graciously provides. If vouchers are available I’d be ever so grateful
kind regards

Oh, excellent, pleased to see you got a visit! I’ve had quite a few clicks through from your blog and now I see why. :) My husband had been paying attention to mine, as he got me a bigger glass jar for my birthday yesterday. Happiness all round.
Ooooh Kirsty, lucky you and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
My wish is something to go in my new kitchen…an oven to be specific. My boyfriend and I have brought a house and we’re currently saving for an oven. A microwave is a marvellous thing but there is only so many variations of a home made microwave meal that I can make!
This is such a lovely idea – I’m looking forward to hearing about others that have had their wishes granted!!
Id really love a stand mixer it’s on my bucket list of kitchenalia
