Let’s talk about love

Let’s talk about love…not romantic love because I’m too old and too married for all that.
I think we’ll stick with motherly love,  altogether a much more palatable subject and very topical if you’re in the UK (since it’s Mothering Sunday here, but I think not in the US?). I was treated to breakfast in bed [...]

What a difference a year makes

Well a bit over a year but let’s not split hairs shall we?
Year Two of the 365 Photo A Day project is, frankly, a bit of a challenge. I’m really struggling to get enthused about it and it’s feeling like such a chore at the moment that I’m thinking of giving up. Gasp. I’ve been [...]

Tea for two

I love tea. It’s a love affair that’s evolved over time and has involved occasional flirtations with coffee but me and tea are now going steady. I have standards and these are they: builder’s tea (strong as you like and ideally one tea bag to a cup, then pressed against the side for extra za-za-zooooom), [...]

Weston-super-Mare

Town of my noble birth…ah, blessed art thou Weston-super Mare…let’s overlook the fact that Jeffrey Archer is thou Lord…and the fact that the sea is NEVER in and you have to walk a mile for a paddle…and the fact that your nickname of Weston-super-Mud is so well deserved…anyway, thou art blessed amongst faded English seaside [...]

Pig Woman Jan

It’s still snowy. What to shoot but lovely pal Pig Woman Jan…she’s not a pig but she is a woman and her name is Jan. She stables her horse on the farm where we live and we joint owned the pigs with her and our neighbour, who owns the farm. Much of her pig is [...]

This much I know

Day 3 of The Big Freeze in the UK. I’ve taken around 1,000 photos of which pretty much none are anything special. Why is snow so hard to capture?  Quite apart from getting the white balance right, I’m drawn to trying to getting the ‘whole’ to get the scale of how much snow we have. [...]

Christmas card photoshoot…NEVER AGAIN

Next year I’m buying Christmas cards in packets. Or going pagan or something. I am NOT ever ever ever attempting a Christmas Card Photoshoot never ever again. I really thought I’d get a cracking shot this year. I finally kind of know my way around a camera and the boys even have nativity dressing up [...]

Mr Wonderful

Mr Diggy had his first ‘proper’ haircut today. I’m not counting the random chopping I’ve done over the last few months. But his lovely curls had gone from angelic to dragged-through-a-hedge-backwards and it was time to call in the The Professionals.
So I hauled myself out of my sick bed, and dragged those Megaboys to the [...]

Hello Baby..come to Mama

A mere 17 hours after I received A Sign that I should blow a load of cash on a new camera…she arrived. And here she is, my [not very] little bundle of joy….my D700 accessorised with a Big Fat Lens.
Since the incident of the Disappearing Wig back in the summer, Andy the Postman can’t be [...]
